Lisa Etre's Fine Art

Discover unique art pieces by Ms. Lisa Etre, a talented artist with deep roots in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Lisa first became a resident of St. Croix in 1962 at the age of seven. She later graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art, which led her to travel and study in Mexico and South America. Lisa continued her artistic education at Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she focused on painting and printmaking.
In 1980, Lisa made the adventurous journey to St. John aboard her sister's 40-foot sailboat, living on the vessel for six months before settling in Rendezvous Bay, St. John. In 1983, she left St. John to pursue a Master's degree at the University of New Mexico. By January 1984, Lisa accepted a teaching position with the Virgin Islands Department of Education on St. Thomas. She proudly dedicated 22 years to shaping young artists as the Chairperson of the Art Department at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School.
Alongside her teaching career, Lisa has continuously refined her artistic voice. Her vibrant graphic gouaches, stunning oils of island scenes, luminous watercolors, and delightful giftware have gained recognition throughout the Caribbean. Her work has been featured in Islands Magazine, she illustrated Simon & Schuster's 'One White Sail', and she was honored to be a featured artist on the set of the Bill Cosby Show. Additionally, Lisa is a founding member of the Artists' Association of St. John, Inc.
